DISTOCIDE
Composition
Each tablet contains:
Praziquantel 600 mg
(2-cyclohexylcarbonyl-1,2,3,6,7,11b hexahydro-4H-prazino-(2,1-a)
isoquinoline-4-one.)
Properties and Mode of Action
DISTOCIDE, praziquantel causes vacuolisation of the syncytial distal tegument. At first, the vacuole is small but begins to enlarge to form grossly recognizable bullae. The tegumental vacuoles finally burst leading to death of the parasites.
Indications
DISTOCIDE is uniquely effective against all human Schistosome species, liver and lung flukes as well as against a wide range of tapeworms.
Dosage and Administration
Dosage must be adjusted to the individual case by the physician.
If a dose is to be repeated on the same day, the interval between each dose should be 4 - 6 hours.
Tablets are to be swallowed with some liquid, unchewed and best after a meal.
One oblong tablet has four segments, each containing 150 mg active ingredient thus allowing easier and more exact adjustment of the dosage to the patient's body weight.
