Each tablet contains:
Ciprofloxacin (as hydrochloride monohydrate)            250, 500, or 750 mg
Each (20 ml) vial contains:
Ciprofloxacin lactate equivalent to ciprofloxacin          200 mg

Properties and Mode of Action
CIPROCIN, is one of the most active of the fluoroquinolone antibacterial group.It is bactericidal acting by inhibition of the A subunit of DNA gyrase enzyme essential for bacterial DNA reproduction.
CIPROCIN, has a broad activity against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria including Enterobacteriaceae, Pseudomonas aeruginosa; Moraxella catarrhalis and Haemophilus influenzae (including beta-lactamase producing strains),Haemophilus parainfluenzae and ducreyi, Neisseria gonorrhoeae (including beta-lactamase producing strains), Neisseria meningitidis, Campylobacter spp., and Vibrio spp.; Staphylococci (including methicillin-susceptible and methicillin-resistant strains), Streptococci (including pyogenes, faecalis and pneumoniae).
CIPROCIN has some activity against mycobacteria, and rickettsias.

Urinary tract infections.
Lower respiratory tract infections.
Bone and joint infections.
Skin and soft tissue infections.
Gastrointestinal tract infections including biliary tract infections, infectious diarrhoea, typhoid and paratyphoid fevers.
Genital tract infections: prostatitis,gonorrhoea and chancroid.
Meningococcal meningitis prophylaxis.

A single oral dose of 500 mg is suggested for the treatment of gonorrhea (by WHO) and for meningococcal meningitis prophylaxis.

CIPROCIN should be cautiously used in patients with known or suspected central nervous system disorders, or other factors predisposing to seizures. Excessive sunlight should be avoided.

Drug Interactions
As with other fluoroquinolones, concurrent use of aluminium - magnesium hydroxide antacids, iron and zinc salts or sucralfate is better avoided.
Ciprofloxacin concentrations are increased 50% with concurrent administration of probenecid.
Concurrent administration of ciprofloxacin with caffeine, theophylline, dairy products or enteral feedings is better avoided.

As with other fluoroquinolones, CIPROCIN is not indicated in hypersensitivity to quinolones, pregnant or lactating women, children and adolescents less than 18 years of age.

Side effects
CIPROCIN is generally well-tolerated.
As with other quinolones gastrointestinal disturbances e.g. nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, dyspepsia; central nervous system disturbances e.g. headache,dizziness, restlessness;skin reactions e.g. photosensitivity, crystalluria, transient increase in serum creatinine, BUN, ALT, AST may occasionally occur.

CIPROCIN 500 mg Tablets : Box of 1 blister of 10 tablets.
CIPROCIN 750 mg Tablets : Box of 2 blisters of 5 tablets.
CIPROCIN 200 mg Vials : Box of 1 vial of 20 ml.
