Composition
Each tablet contains:
E-MOX Capsules
Each capsule contains:
Amoxycillin trihydrate equivalent to 500 mg Amoxycillin activity.
E-MOX Dry Mix
Each 5 ml after reconstitution contains:
Amoxycillin trihydrate equivalent to 125 or 250 mg Amoxycillin activity.
E-MOX Vials
Each vial contains:
Amoxycillin sodium equivalent to 250 or 500 mg or 1 g Amoxycillin activity.

Properties and Mode of Action
E-MOX is a semisynthetic bactericidal penicillin with a broad spectrum of activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria including Staphylococci (nonpenicillinase - producing strains), Streptococci (including pneumoniae, faecalis and viridans), and Listeria monocytogenes; E-coli, Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis, Helicobacter pylori, Neisseria gonorrhoeae and meningitidis, Proteus mirabilis; Clostridium sp., and Peptococcus sp.
E-MOX penetrates well into mucoid and purulent sputum, as well as in the middle ear fluid and inflamed meninges. High concentrations have been reported in bile.
E-MOX can be taken without regard to meals.
E-MOX has a better absorption than ampicillin and so causes less gastrointestinal side effects.

Indications
Upper respiratory tract infections: otitis media, sinusitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis, laryngitis.
Lower respiratory tract infections: acute and chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, empyema.
Gastrointestinal tract infections: typhoid and paratyphoid fevers, biliary tract infections, gastroenteritis (including Salmonella enteritis).
Eradication of Helicobacter pylori.
Genitourinary tract infections.
Skin and soft tissue infections.
Prophylaxis of bacterial endocarditis.

Dosage and Administration
Oral use:
Adults:
500 mg every 8 hours.
Children up to 10 years: 125 - 250 mg every 8 hours.
Children under 20 kg body weight: 20 - 40 mg/kg/day in divided doses.
Parenteral use:
Adults:
Moderate infections: 500 mg every 8 hours.
Severe infections: 1 g every 6 hours by slow I.V. injection over 3 - 4 minutes or by infusion over 30 - 60 minutes.
Children up to 10 years: 50 - 100 mg/kg/day in divided doses.

For Eradication of H.pylori: E-MOX is given in combination with either metronidazole or clarithromycin and a bismuth compound or an antisecretory drug in doses of 1.5 - 2.25 g daily in 2 - 4 divided doses.

For Prophylaxis of Endocarditis in Susceptible Patients:
E-MOX 2 or 3 g is given about 1 hour before dental procedures under local or no anaesthesia.

Precautions
E-MOX is better avoided in infectious mononucleosis, because of the increased risk of skin rashes.

Contra_indications
Hypersensitivity to penicillin.

Side effects
As with other penicillins, side effects are infrequent, mild and transient including diarrhoea and skin rash, the latter being more with infectious mononucleosis patients.

E-MOX 500 mg Capsules : Box of 2 blisters of 8 capsules each.
E-MOX 125 mg Dry Mix : Bottle of 60 ml suspension after reconstitution with "EIPICO" solvent.
E-MOX 250 mg Dry Mix : Bottle of 60 ml suspension after reconstitution with EIPICO" solvent.”
